The most recent stories and developments concerning Benghazi, the IRS, and the Justice Department obtaining phone records from the Associated Press , have created a major crisis for the White House. The President’s ability to communicate trust with the American people is greatly strained. The credibility he has concerning the transparency of his administration can also now be called into question. Allen and Vandehei who authored this article start out by saying “the town is turning on President Obama.” They are not wrong, many top Democrats are calling for investigations and many are asking for answers and for heads to roll. This situation can only get worse as Republicans promise to hold hearings and investigations, as well as possibly attempt to delay the implementation of Obamacare.

The White House has not until now had to deal with such a major scandal or set of scandals that invoke negative press and headlines. The article quotes Clinton adviser Vernon Jordan who said “It’s never all right if you’re the president. There is no smooth sailing.” He goes on to say though that the President needs to react and react quickly. If this crisis is not managed correctly it could hurt the President’s chances to enact key parts of his agenda such as immigration reform.

Claire Milbrandt the Operations Director for John Connor’s and Company says that “Just when you think that trust in government and the IRS could not get any lower, it does. It is hard to believe that a government organization that is capable of such a terrible operation is going to be trusted to enforce our shiny new healthcare system.” Claire’s concerns highlight the credibility and trust gap that the Obama Administration needs to fix. At John Connor’s and Company we provide the public relations and media consulting to help organizations facing crisis management. We have extensive relationships with many media outlets, and the experienced staff to ensure sound communication.

As debates heat up over Obamacare, immigration, and the federal deficit, the Tea Party may once again
be providing a migraine for GOP Leadership. Thursday April 25th, about 20 GOP lawmakers as well as
staffers including aides from Senator McConnell, and Senator Paul met behind close doors. They talked
about developing new strategies and making inroads into the U.S Senate.

It will be interesting to see how powerful the Tea Party will be as a legislative caucus. Their abilities to
influence the passage of their own legislation are hindered since Democrats control the Senate and the
White House. They will have their own leverage as contentious legislation such as immigration reform goes
to the House. If such a contentious issue were to be brought to a vote, the bill’s failure or success may
rest on the 20 or so members of this Tea Party Caucus.

One question remains for the Tea Party groups: Can they adapt to play the game of Washington politics and enact the change that they were sent to do, or will they start become another pawn in the game.

Let's face the truth. Tom Barrett likely doesn't agree with the Supreme Court's ruling on Citizens United.

Let’s face the truth. Tom Barrett likely doesn’t agree with the Supreme Court’s ruling on Citizens United.

He probably doesn’t fly United Airlines either.

And it’s even more likely that tonight, “United” is the last thing the Tom Barrett’s victory party attendees will feel.

This is all because of a last minute cancellation yesterday of the proposed “Unity Rally” by the Democratic Party of Wisconsin and its leader Mike Tate- likely at the request of Tom Barrett himself. The purpose of cancelling the “Unity Rally” may be due to many reasons such as low attendance if Tom Barrett wins tonight. Likely, it was an intentional move so that the campaign can distance itself from the perception that Barrett is the newly christened union candidate. But the cancellation of a rally- for reasons other than severe weather- in the grassroots world is a significant sign of the Democrats intensity in the coming weeks.

Tonight, Tom Barrett will likely find himself as Scott Walker’s challenger but without that same army that obtained nearly 1 million questionable signatures to recall the Governor in the first place.

The result will likely mean empty phone banks for Tom Barrett, low voter intensity for the Democratic base and a liberal movement in Wisconsin that will fail un-unitedly on June 5th.

With the looming recall election just around the corner, the industry that should be providing a lens of truth in Wisconsin has now rendered itself in complete disarray. Wisconsin's media industry may have just lost the last thread of credibility it has.

With the looming recall election just around the corner, the industry that should be providing a lens of truth in Wisconsin has now rendered itself in complete disarray. Wisconsin’s media industry may have just lost the last thread of credibility it has.

This week, WTMJ talk radio host Charlie Sykes highlighted that staff members of the Journal Broadcast Group, the parent company of the largest newspaper in Wisconsin, have signed recall petitions. A corporate executive, Steve Wexler, went on air earlier this week to explain the company’s policy of not releasing the names of employees who have signed the recall petitions.

But don’t worry, for the sake of media accountability, Mark Belling of 1130 WISN just started to trickle out the “hot links” of reporters, journalists, and on-air personalities who have all signed petitions to recall Governor Scott Walker. We hope that other members of the media across Wisconsin follow Mark’s lead and show news consumers and citizens the real politics behind the glimmering smiles on the 6 o’clock news or behind the black print of our newspapers.

The days of media objectivity in Wisconsin are officially over. This week, Jason Stverak, President of the Franklin Center wrote about the continuous attacks by colleagues in the media and their attempt to discredit it’s free-market leaning news project, Wisconsin Reporter. As a recent news organization in WI, even the Franklin Center is clear on its news focus and “voice” in the states.

The reality is, the legacy media in Wisconsin is officially poisoned. It’s going to take honest, news organizations that are up-front about their focus and non-traditional journalists, maybe even citizen journalists, to provide the real news to Wisconsin voters in this historic election.
